Maneki Koneko Creamer – Now Starting to Resemble a Kitten and Fishing Float

After three attempts to form the head (the second one failed when I dropped it on the floor), I finally have the kitten body/ stand and handle starting to resemble a kitten. In these two pictures, I had not yet added the forearms.

More than a generous amount of Magic Slip (slip made with clay, a water mixture of sodium silicate and soda ash, and shredded up toilet paper) has been used to hold the two pieces together.

The ears of this koneko are formed differently – thicker and off to the sides – to give more room for my thumb to rest on the head when using the creamer.

Forearms added.

A couple views with the sibling sugar bowl in the background. The sugar bowl’s lid is in the kiln room – the “yarnball” needed a little patch on the trim.
